Hong Kong Sound Archive is a self-driven project with a unique goal: to delve into the soundscape of Hong Kong within the United Kingdom. Apart from capturing mere sounds, it seeks to redefine the concept of “Hong Kong.” In an era marked by increasing migration of Hong Kongers, the concept of “Hong Kong” transcends geographical boundaries, evolving into a dynamic community that connects people across the United Kingdom.
Hong Kong Sound Archive aspires to become a vessel of cultural memory by documenting and preserving the soundscape and landscape of “Hong Kong”. This project is a journey of exploration and community. Through this archive, we aim to preserve and rediscover the multifaceted identity of “Hong Kong” and create a future that belongs to Hong Kongers, to all of us.
